Chlorine is a harsh chemical. Used as a disinfectant to kill bacteria, the toxic product can be found in many paper products, including diapers for infants and toddlers. In addition, chlorine provides that ultra-white color for most paper products, as unbleached paper tends to be brownish. Chlorine-free diapers are less harmful to the environment, as well as being kinder to sensitive newborn skin. The fewer harsh products and irritants against a baby’s skin, the less chance a newborn or toddler will suffer ill effects or diaper rash. Chlorine-free diapers are just as absorbent as other diapers on the market and while they may cost a little more, chlorine-free diapers are a safer, kinder alternative for a “green” life and your child’s health.
