Newborn Diapers -

When it comes to newborn baby supplies, many of the items are very obvious, but there are some that are not so obvious, especially for the new moms. For the benefit of new moms, let's look at some essential newborn supplies your baby needs.

Diapers. Well, diapers are the most obvious essential baby supplies but most new moms or dads may not know what type to choose and how much they need. There are reusable cloth diapers and disposable diapers. It is difficult to say which type is better for your baby because it is a personal preference.

If you choose reusable cloth diapers, then be prepared to spend a lot of time washing and cleaning. If you don't mind doing some washing, then cloth diaper should be a better choice for you. I personally prefer to use disposable diapers but of course using disposable diapers will cost more money. So, there is no easy solution here, it depends on your personal preference and financial condition.

Whichever type of diaper you choose, do keep in mind that keeping your baby clean and hygienic are the most important things to remember. Get some soft cloths that absorb water well. A few smaller ones, including cotton balls, to dab on alcohol, oil or lotion from time to time can be lifesavers.

Medical supplies. From time to time, newborn baby may develop heat rash and other skin conditions. Although such conditions are usually mild and temporary, and will normally disappear on their own. But as caring parents, we want to ease our babies discomforts as much as we can. A little doctor-approved itch cream can be handy. Don't forget the petroleum jelly, it is very useful in small sections for easing rough or dry spots.

During the first few days of newborn life, the umbilical cord may be a place for infection to enter your baby's body. Therefore, it is important to care for it properly. A little antibacterial ointment is a must. Gauze pads, bandage strips in various sizes and a little low-stick adhesive tape are essential first-aid kit items.

Make sure you always keep the area clean and dry during the time your baby's cord is healing. Always wash your hands thoroughly before touching your baby's cord as germs can be carried on your hands. Clean around your baby's belly button area at least once each day or more often if his cord looks sticky or moist.

Note that baby's body can get chill or too hot easily because their body system is still trying to adapt to the outside world. Babies also sweat less efficiently than adults, so it is harder for them to maintain their inner body temperature.

So make sure you get some warm baby's cloths. A cloth head covering is great. Like anyone, babies can lose a lot of heat through their scalps. A little bonnet or hat can also keep harsh sunlight off the head and face. Soft t-shirts with large head openings and armholes are also essential; they're easier for you to change and clean as babies spit up and can get dirty.

A baby's skin is very sensitive, more fragile and less oily than an adult's. Chemicals, detergents, fragrances can all cause irritation, rashes and dryness. So make sure you're not using products that can irritate your baby's skin. For instance, use only baby laundry detergents that are fragrance-free and dye-free.
